FAQs
For individual nutrition consultations
I offer a free 15-minute exploratory call. During this call I aim to find out more about the nutrition support you’re looking for. I’ll explain the approach I take and how I feel I can support you.
The call also gives you the opportunity to ask me questions and to feel confident in me and my approach. My aim is to get you the help you need, whether that’s via me or with another Nutritionist or Dietitian I know.
I love to help people make healthy changes to their diet and where relevant, improve their relationship with food. There are often confusing nutrition messages and nutrition information that is not based on good science. I aim to help you understand nutrition and feel confident about including foods that will provide you with the nutrients you need to feel good.
My online support may be particularly useful if:
- You have tried different diets in the past and feel frustrated that these have not worked well for you.
- You are unsure if the foods you’re eating or your eating pattern are providing you with the nutrients you need.
- You would like to learn more about nutrition and how to eat more mindfully so that you can learn to trust your own body’s internal signals.
- You are peri-menopausal or approaching menopause and would like to understand more about how what you eat can help support you through the menopause transition and beyond.
- You have high cholesterol or raised blood pressure and you want to make healthy changes to your diet to reduce these.
All sessions are held online using video communication like Zoom. These generally work well as long as you have good internet access and are able to create a quiet private space for the call. Many of my clients find it convenient and more comfortable having online sessions. If you are not accustomed to using Zoom, I am happy to send you some guidance.
I don’t provide specific meal plans as this doesn’t enable you to learn how to meal plan yourself. Instead, I aim to support you to make healthy changes that will help you reach your goals in a way that fits with your lifestyle.
I can provide you with lots of suggestions and recipes of healthy, balanced meals and snacks to enjoy.

I obtained a BSc degree in Health Sciences and Nutrition at the University of Aberdeen, where I also achieved a distinction in my MSc in Public Health and Health Services Research and completed my PhD in 2006.
I am a Registered Nutritionist with the Association for Nutrition. Maintaining this registration involves keeping up-to-date with the latest nutritional science and acting in an ethical and professional manner. I also volunteer as an AfN Regional Rep and assess applications for AfN registration.
For workplace nutrition talks and training courses
I offer an engaging talk on healthy eating that shares up-to-date science and practical food-based advice. I also clarify nutrition messages and bust some nutrition myths whilst allowing plenty time for discussion and answering questions.
I also offer a talk on Eating Well for Menopause to help people understand how diet can help alleviate menopausal symptoms and support health through the menopause transition and beyond.

If there is a particular topic of interest to your team, I’m happy to incorporate this into my talk. For example, in the past I have delivered talks with a specific focus on mindful eating and on eating well for heart health.

I offer both in-person and virtual talks via live video (e.g. Microsoft Teams or Zoom). If you are wanting to entice your colleagues back into the office, I’m happy to provide an in-person talk. The lunchtime talks I have provided have worked well, as it can be really useful to talk about food whilst enjoying eating!
I am always happy to answer questions, whether the talk is delivered in-person or virtually.
People can always contact me after the session if they would like tailored 1-1 nutrition support. I offer one-off individual nutrition consultations as well as 1-1 packages.
Your colleagues may also find my online courses useful. These include ‘An Introduction to Mindful Eating’ and several short courses on ‘Eating Well for Menopause’. The Eating Well for Menopause book is a useful resource for individuals wanting to learn more about this area.
I have developed a course for health professionals who work with peri- or post-menopausal women. I developed this course with fellow Registered Nutritionist Lynn Burns. The course provides 2 hours of CPD (Continuous Professional Development) endorsed by the Association for Nutrition (AfN) and the UK & International Health Coaching Association. This course is suitable for nutritionists, dietitians, pharmacists, personal trainers, nurses and other medical professionals and wellness therapists.
I also provide guest lectures to students currently studying nutrition at University. These include lectures on nutrition around menopause, preparing your AfN portfolio, and nutrition careers talks.
